WHAT ARE RESURFACERS?
Resurfacing treatments, sometimes referred to as mild peels, are superficial exfoliating treatments meaning they can be easily worked into daily life with minimal disruption. They are very superficial in comparison to chemical peels offered by trained aestheticians. Often they are home treatments that can be purchased over the counter, for example, the ordinary peel. Resurfacers generally have little-to-no downtime following treatment. Common resurfacing ingredients are Lactic acid and Glycolic acid (both are AHA’s)
WHAT ARE CHEMICAL PEELS?
A chemical peel is solution applied to the face to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new cells. Chemical Peels are very effective for a number of skin conditions and concerns such as anti-ageing skin care (wrinkles, lines, crow’s feet and dull skin tones), acne and acne scaring, hyperpigmentation, minimising of pores and congestion. Common chemical peels ingredients include Salicylic acid and the strongest ingredient Trichloroacetic acid (TCA)
Chemical peels come in varying intensities and there are restrictions to whom can perform certain depths. TCA is a controlled ingredient and aesthetians can only go to 8% only. TCA is not suitable for darker skins.
