Gaining Consent

There are 3 sections to fill in during a full medical consent form

  • Personal Information
  • Medical History
  • Informed Consent

 

These can either be completed before the appointment and sent to clients electronically or, on the day of the appointment. Must always be completed in advance to the treatment.

  • During the Consultation dialogue, introduce yourself to your client
  • Confirm which treatment they wish to have
  • Discuss expectations and take clear notes
  • Explain exactly what you are going to do during the treatment
  • Complete medical history forms and discuss any contraindications
  • Always check client with a verbal consultation asking the questions listed below. This is because some clients skim through their consultation forms, in conclusion they may not fill out the form correctly.
    1. Are you under the doctor’s care for anything?
    2. Any medications?
    3. Any allergies?
    4. Pregnant/breastfeeding?

 

  • Check vital signs

Vital signs checked

  • BP: between 95/50 and 180/110
  • Temperature: between 35 to 37.3 degree Celsius
  • Pulse: 50 to 110

 

Ensure that all clients are over 18 years of age. If any doubts, then clients must provide a suitable form of ID.

Suitable ID includes – U.K driving licence, Passport, government ID

 

Ensure to look out for clients who are:

  • Drunk/intoxicated
  • New onset/severe headache
  • Heart/lung disease
  • Pregnant/breastfeeding clients
