What is the Intravenous Micronutrient Therapy Course?
On this course you will learn how to administer IV via the Enhance My Health methods. The human body needs at least 30 vitamins, minerals and amino acids a day to keep it healthy. It is believed that all of these nutrients should come from our diet or from supplement tablets however less than half of the required vitamins can be obtained this way. The use of IV is an effective method which delivers essential vitamins and minerals straight into the body. The demand for this treatment is increasingly growing with celebrity influencers leading the way.
The first IV vitamin drips were developed and administered by Dr. John Myers in the 1970s. His research led to the popular Myers Cocktail. These types of infusions generally take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. While undergoing an IV vitamin drip, your body is receiving a higher concentration of the vitamins themselves. A vitamin that’s taken by mouth gets broken down in the stomach and digestive tract and is limited on how much can be absorbed (20 percent). If, however, the vitamin is given through an IV, it’s absorbed at a much higher percentage (90 percent).
This allows the nutrients to be absorbed quickly and directly into the bloodstream, a method that produces higher levels of the vitamins and minerals in your body than if you got them from food or supplements.
Vitamin infusions are being used for a wide variety of health concerns. Conditions that have responded positively to the Myers’ cocktail treatment include asthma, migraines, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia. Trusted Source, muscle spasms, pain, allergies, and sinus and respiratory tract infections. Several other disease states, including angina and hyperthyroidism, have also shown promising results to IV vitamin infusions. Many people are also using IV vitamin therapy for quick rehydration after an intense sporting event, such as running a marathon, to cure a hangover, or for improved skin clarity.
IVMT is a venous infusion of crystalloid solutions including vitamins and important components to give our body a boost of energy. 80% of crystalloid solutions ends up in the interstitial making it an ideal solution for IVMT. The further 20% of this is considered interstitial loss, influenced by acid base status, colloids, tonicity and chloride load.
IVMT involves cannulating the client to infuse the relevant solution. The practitioner must decide on the correct gauge cannula to insert depending on the size of the vein found. This must be a sterile technique throughout, and the cannula should be closely monitored for any swelling, bruising, acute pain and hardening of the skin. The practitioner also needs to decide what solution is best suited to the clients needs.
It is important to go through a full consultation and medical history with the client before hand checking for any contra-indications such as fluid retainers. Clients basic observations should be taken before hand such as blood pressure and heart rate.
The overall effects of IVMT lasts between 8 days and 3 weeks and the effects become more noticeable 12-24 hours after the infusion has been completed.
