Joints are classified based on their structure and function into 3 main areas:
Fibrous Joints: Bones are connected by dense connective tissue; little to no movement (e.g., sutures in the skull).
Cartilaginous Joints: Bones are connected by cartilage; limited movement (e.g., intervertebral discs, pubic symphysis).
Synovial Joints: Freely movable joints with a synovial cavity (e.g., knee, elbow).
