WHAT IS AN ENHANCE ME ADVANCED FACIAL DIPLOMA?

The Enhance me facial diploma allows you to gain the knowledge and understanding to perform facials on clients. This course is also a pre- requisite to advance onto our Chemical Peel & Resurface, Derma Pen and Dermaplaning courses.

Facials are used for general skin health as well as for specific skin conditions. The purpose of a facial treatment is to deep cleanse the skin, relax tense tight muscles and improve the general condition of the skin. It is a no downtime treatment whereby clients can relax, and you can gain better knowledge of their skin health and any skin concerns.

A facial is a family of skin care treatments for the face, including cleansing, toning, exfoliation, steaming, extraction, creams, lotions, facial masks, serums and SPF.

Benefits of cleansing, toning and exfoliating:

All skin types benefit from a good cleansing routine. No facial of any kind should be commenced before the face has been properly cleansed. Cleansing removes the dead skin cells from the skin that are continually being shed. Particles of dust, natural secretions from the sebaceous and sweat glands and stake make up are also removed during the cleansing process – if these are left on the skins surface, spots, blackheads and blocked pores are more likely to occur. Deep cleansing lifts away waste matter and oils enabling the skin to function more easily and to freshen its’ appearance.

The skin should be handled gently to avoid over-stimulating and stretching. All cleansing movements should be upward movements.

Applying a tonic to the skin helps to remove excess traces of cleaner and to tone or freshen the skin.

Exfoliating the skin consists of removing the outer layer of the skin together with dead skin cells. This stimulates the flow of blood to the surface of the skin. Products applied to the skin following exfoliation are absorbed more easily into the skin

Benefits of facial massage:

Facial massage may be carried out either using oil or cream. Some oils may be purchased with essential oils added and have many benefits to the skin. The benefits of facial massage are:

  • Increased supply of oxygen and nutrients to the skin and muscles
  • Stimulates the removal of waste products from body tissues and cells
  • Promotes cell rejuvenation
  • Relives tension and fatigue
  • Improves the texture of the skin
  • Promotes total relaxation

The basic movements within a facial are effleurage and petrissage.

Effleurage is a slow rhythmic movement performed with the palm of the hand – fingertips may have to be used on small areas of the face. The pressure should be firm but gentle on the upwards movements and slightly less firm on the downwards strokes to avoid dragging the skin. Effleurage is used at the beginning and at the end of ALL massage sequences and is also used as a linking movement

Some of the general benefits of facials include:

  • Hydrates the skin to help reduce appearance of finer lines and wrinkles
  • Evens skin tone and reduces pores
