Course aim and objectives

Learning Aim

Want to be highly regarded as a knowledgeable practitioner? If so,  you need to know how the body works from the inside out and this course  has been designed to help you learn & digest anatomical information that can often be regarded as  challenging.

By the end of this course you will be able-

  • To accurately verbally discuss with your clients the relevant anatomical particulars to the treatments you are going to perform and the likely outcomes.
  • Identify how the systems of the body can affect treatments and the treatment outcomes. This knowledge and understanding is embedded in many beauty and aesthetic treatments
  •  You will also learn about further career pathways in allied healthcare fields.

Learning outcomes

The anatomy and physiology of the human body is magnificent and whilst the generic attributes are the same, there is a uniqueness to every individual, which should be understood when performing invasive treatments.

Therefore it is essential to understand how the anatomy and physiology of the human body works.

Units in this qualification have been mapped to the relevant NOS (where applicable). This qualification is regulated on the Regulated Qualifications Framework.

This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the standard setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications.

Learning methods

You will be continually assessed, throughout the course, using various methods these will be some of the following-

  • Assignment work
  • Quizzes and tests
  • Labelling diagrams
  • The assessment process is continuous throughout the course to ensure that you are fully understanding the material and techniques and able to apply them in practice.

You will be awarded certification once you have-

  • Completed and passed all the assignments in the systems of the body
  • Passed the compulsory exam a the the required 70%+ pass mark and evidenced any additional criteria
  • Produced a full portfolio that has been signed off by the tutor and VTCT.

Your certificate will only be awarded once VTCT has approved your portfolio of work.

Assignment work

Each of the body systems there will be an assignment to complete to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding. There is not a set work count to achieve but make sure you have answered all that the questions/points mentioned in the brief. Common pitfalls with assignment work are-

  • Copy and paste from the internet. It is often very obvious when work has been copy and pasted as marking staff will see a large amount of the same text. There is nothing wrong with ‘paraphrasing’ and explaining the same point but it MUST be your words.
  • Going off the point of what the assignment is asking for. Stick to the brief and don’t write loads of unnecessary text.
  • Using poor websites and research resources. There is so much information available on the web and some of it will not be relevant for the beauty and aesthetic sector. Stick to reliable site and textbooks, if you are using them. Make sure any resources that you use are listed in your bibliography at the end of your assignment.

Submitting your assignments- All assessments for this course should be emailed to bryony@enhance-me-aesthetics.com stating your full name and the assignment title.

Progression- It is essential that you complete the anatomy and physiology course (submitted a portfolio of completed work, allowed time for marking and corrections, sit the exam and be awaiting certification) prior to moving on to any injectable courses.

Failing to complete this element will result in any injectable course being rescheduled.
