Benefits and Effects of Mesotherapy
What is Mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is a non-surgical treatment which injects professional skincare serums into the skin at an epidermal level. These serums are sterile solutions containing ingredients such peptides, hyaluronic acid and botanicals. These serums penetrate the skin and work directly at a cellular level which involves using micro injections creating tiny breaks into the skin.
The treatment is ideal for dry, dehydrated and dull skin or simply as a skin boost. Transportation of ingredients within the serums are injected at the epidermal layer where cellular interaction takes place. The main areas of this treatment are applied to the whole face, hands, chest and neck. Treatments can also include the scalp, for hair loss and body for cellulite treatment.

What’s the history behind Mesotherapy?
Research carried out by a French doctor called Michel Pristor (1924 – 2003) who founded the field of Mesotherapy in the 1950’s and is considered the father of modern Mesotherapy. The French press coined the term Mesotherapy in 1958, creating the word from a combination of “meso” – the greek for “middle” and “therapy” which comes from the Greek “therapia” – which means to treat medically.
In the early years following Dr Pristor’s development of practise, Mesotherapy was used primarily for the treatment of medical conditions.
The difference of using mesotherapy over orally administered medication is that it is delivered directly into the bloodstream, In comparison to the digestive system where this process would take longer. Smaller amounts of medication could be used as it is delivered directly to the area being treated.
Specific conditions such as:
Depression, Anxiety, Chronic pain, Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia were all treated.
Later on this technique was discovered that it could be used to treat skin conditions by French practitioners. Other advantages mesotherapy presented was that it improved acne, hair loss, wrinkles, cellulite and stretch marks.
