Steps to take to avoid problems

Use this guide to help you avoid problems:

  • Discuss any issues the client has with the procedure, including their fears.  Have them write in their own words exactly what the want. For example, if they want larger lips with a defined edge have them put that in writing.
  • Have the client fill out the medical information for.  Review it with them.  Advise them of any medical problems that could complicate the procedure such as cold sores for lip enhancements.
  • Determine if the client has any chronic problems that are being treated by a doctor.  If so ask them to obtain their GP’s written consent to receive the procedure or ask them to return later when the situation is resolved.
  • Review the consent form with the client and have them sign it.  If the client requests a copy, do so.
  • Get close photographs of how the client look’s before you begin the procedure.  Be sure the client knows ahead of time that you require both before and after images of any procedure, and as such, as photographs are your property.
  • Complete your chart notes.  Every client file must have photographs, chart notes, completed medical history/client information forms and the signed consent form, in order that you comply with your insurance.
  • Give the client the pre procedure and aftercare forms.

IF A CLIENT IS DISPLAYING A CONDITION YOU ARE UNSURE OF REGARDING A MEDICAL ISSUE OR RECENT SURGERY GET A MEDICAL RELEASE FORM FROM THE CLIENT’S DOCTOR BEFORE PROCEEDING.

The practitioner has a responsibility to the client to inform her pre procedure of the associated conditions that have occurred in a small number of individuals.  It is important that the client informs the MRI operator that she has permanent cosmetic enhancement referring to it as a tattoo and also of any unusual sensations felt surrounding the procedure site during the MRI examination.
