Pre procedure

Pre procedure eligibility:

  • Clients must be 18 years of age to receive permanent cosmetic enhancements
  • Women who are pregnant or nursing are not eligible for permanent cosmetic enhancements
  • Persons with auto-immune conditions and/or healing problems must obtain a written doctors consent before being eligible for permanent cosmetic enhancements
  • The national blood service does not accept blood donations for one year following a tattoo procedure.  If donations of blood are a requirement in the clients life, permanent cosmetic enhancement is not a procedure a client should consider.

Contraindications:

  • Specific contraindications are:
  • Cataracts – eyeliner enhancements
  • Ocular herpes – eyeliner enhancements
  • Moles – beauty mark on the moles
  • Haemangioma – directly on the lesion

The use of medication:

The use of medication and the health of every client should be considered prior to all procedures  carried out by the permanent cosmetic practitioner including follow up procedures.

Medications being used by the client can affect the healing process – possibly by slowing the process down and therefore affecting the colour retention ability of the skin.  If the medication has the effect of greying the skin tone the final healed result will also take on a grey cast.

The proposed procedure site should be observed for indications of any skin disorder that cannot be classified as ‘normal healthy’ skin and if necessary, the client should be referred to a doctor for medical clearance prior to the procedure.

Determine if the client has any chronic problems for which they are seeing a doctor, if so have them get their doctors written permission to have the procedure or ask the client to return later when the situation is resolved.

If healing is informed as being slower than normal consider a doctor’s referral for antibiotics to promote proper healing
