Machine & Needle Usage

  • You want to set your SPMU machine to a medium speed to avoid too much trauma
  • Use a Round Liner needle as the needles are tightly grouped together to implant a lot of product. They are sharper than round shaders and will work quicker without causing too much trauma.
  • Use a needle such as a 5RL for dense and dark areas because the more needles being present will result in a higher amount of product being implanted/penetrated.
  • Use a 1RL or 3RL on small, detailed areas such as hairstrokes, 0.4 as is a more compact needle.
  • Needle length should be set to approx. 1.5mm

Procedure

  1. You can numb the skin as you would usually for SPMU procedures, in line with your local council licensing and insurance regulations. DO NOT use any numbing which contains Epinephrine while using FIX’D.
    1. Prepare client skin with an alcohol wipe or antiseptic cleanser such as Vitasept or Chlorhexidine.
    1. Using your chosen needle (3rRL for small detail or RL for larger, denser areas), use shading movements to break the surface of the skin. Do not be alarmed if the skin bleeds, you want to allow an exit for the pigment.
    1. Either use a premade solution, like you would a pigment by implanting from a pigment ring/cup following the manufacturer’s procedure and timings …

OR follow with application of the salt/water paste you have made, leaving to sit like a mask for 20 minutes using gauze. Stinging/Burning at this stage is normal due to the salt in the product.

  • Work the other brow/area to repeat the steps above.
    • Pat the area dry with gauze and allow skin to scab.
    • Advise the client of the aftercare.

Aftercare

Following treatment the area can look very sore, swollen and red. They will probably be oozing blood and lymph too.

Advice for clients:

  • Gently clean the area every – 15-30 minutes for the first day using a damp cotton pad with cooled, boiled water to prevent dramatic scabbing, ensuring your hands are very clean/ using gloves.
  • Keep the area dry and free from water. Avoid getting wet in the shower.
  • Picking scabs can cause scarring and should be left to fall off naturally.
  • For 2 weeks avoid getting them wet, UV exposure, steam, products in area to reduce risk of infection and scarring.
  • Should you believe the area has become infected then seek advice from a medical professional.

Clients should return every 6 weeks, when the skin is healed for an average of 6 sessions in total to achieve full results. Some clients may take less or more depending on the amount of saturation from the SPMU. Do not agree to do another removal before 6 weeks has passed as you need the skin to be healed to prevent scarring.
