A BB glow treatment differs from a standard microneedling treatment due to the needle type used. A microneedling device is used to deliver a BB Glow treatment with a nano-needle cartridge.
Microneedling devices can be used for other treatments but the cartridges will differ. Micro-needling treatments are usually completed using 12 pin needles. In comparison BB Glow is applied to the skin using a nano-needle ONLY.
■Nano needles are very small (0.15mm in length and the thickness of hair).
■A Nano needle is 81 silicone tips within a cartridge.
■These microscopic hair-like cones separate the cells within the epidermis to allow active products to be pushed into the skin.
■Nano needling only affects the epidermis treating the upper 0.15mm of the skin.
■Nano needles create Nano channels for transdermal delivery of active ingredients
The best bit about using a nano-needle is there is no pain or discomfort.
Depth of penetration
With Nano-needles there is very limited penetration as the product is to be placed superficially within the skin, more specifically the epidermis. The pigment is NOT designed to be placed into the dermis.
This can be used as a guide when considering depth of the microneedling device.
Areas where the skin is thinner, and bones are closer to the surface of the skin will have more discomfort.
The skin around the eye has a similar thickness to that of an eggshell, and is just as fragile as an egg, so again be careful when working on this area
