Course Aim and Objectives

 

Introduction

The VTCT Level 2 Award in Facial Massage and Skin Care is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; how to provide facial skincare.

Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety practices in a salon environment and how to promote client care and communications in beauty related industries. You will also develop an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in beauty therapy to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to perform your own salon services.

 

Units in this qualification have been mapped to the relevant NOS (where applicable). This qualification is regulated by the Regulated Qualifications Framework.
This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the standard-setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications.

Prerequisite
Learners who wish to undertake this qualification must also achieve the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) for Beauty Therapy and Nail Services qualification or a regulated equivalent. You will be assigned online learning to complete this and will sit an exam on your first day.

You will complete the following assessments in person at the Academy, as directed by your tutor.

 

Aim: To build the knowledge and skills to perform a treatment on the face, décolletage, neck and shoulders.

Objectives: To achieve the aim we will cover the following:

  • To become aware of the relevant health & safety associated with facial treatments
  • To recognise contra-indications and act responsibly upon recognition on a contra-indication
  • To develop an understanding of the anatomy of the skin and underlying structures
  • To diagnose skin types and give advice on ways to improve or maintain a balanced skin type
  • To identify the products and tools needed to carry out a facial treatment
  • To perform a facial treatment
  • To give relevant aftercare advice
